An automotive remote starter is a computerized device that electrically mimics the key being inserted into the ignition and being turned to start the engine of your vehicle. A remote starter enables the vehicle to be safely and securely started from a remote distance while allowing the vehicle to reach operating temperature and warm/cool the interior of the vehicle before driving.
How safe is a remote starter?
There are several safety features that are built-in to high quality aftermarket remote starters. The "Foot Brake Shutdown" stops the engine if the brake pedal is pressed, the "Hood Safety Shutdown" disables the remote starter whenever the hood is open and the optional digital adjustable sensor senses tilt, shock and forward motion.
How secure is a remote starter?
Several security features are built-in to high quality aftermarket remote starters to ensure your vehicle is secure while unattended. During remote start runtime; the steering wheel will remain locked until it is unlocked by the physical key and the "Foot Brake Shutdown" stops the engine if the vehicle is attempted to be shifted from park.
We integrate any factory alarm systems however, only an aftermarket alarm will interrupt the runtime if the vehicle has been breached. To add an alarm system to your remote starter, contact us for an estimate.
How long does it take to install a remote starter?
The length of a remote starter installation greatly varies on the vehicle and type of remote starter that is being installed. At Start Solutions, we book at least four hours per vehicle to ensure a job well-done. This also allows us to spend more time with you, our customer. Whenever a job is rushed, accidents happen and we would rather ensure a positive experience than finish early.
What's the difference between "2-Way" and "1-Way" systems?
Remote starter and/or alarm systems with 1-way remotes are similar to an OEM remote where you only command the car to do something such as: Lock/Arm, Unlock/Disarm, Remote Start, etc. A 2-way system allows the system to communicate with the user directly through the remote to confirm if a command was completed. This is beneficial since the vehicle is not required to be in the user's field of view to see the status of the vehicle.
